St. John Chrysostom Altar Society Meeting Minutes  

                         June 14,2010                                                                                                       

The meeting commenced at 7:25 pm.  Those present included Mary Howard, Iris McLaughlin, Jenny Souers, Joanne Ashby, Becky Heady, Stephany Ivers, Kathleen Sullivan, Daphne Banks, Mary Kinsella and Pat Smith. 

Treasurer’s Report:  Mary reported a balance of $1,697.  The parish council decided material for the Hug Quilts could be purchased using the line item in the parish budget designated for the missions as an outreach ministry.  After review, the 2010-2011 budget was passed.

Secretary’s Report:   The May minutes were read and accepted as written.

Quilt for 2010:  The quilt is COMPLETED!  Joanne Ashby is working on the pillow cases.

Summer Festival:  Mary reported the sign up sheet for volunteers is in the vestibule of the church.  Volunteers are needed for July 16 and 17.  Set up will begin at 4:00 on Friday at Annunciation.  Raffle tickets for the quilt, beef and capital prize were distributed to those present.  This is the first year for the event to be on two nights.  Daphne will announce the need for volunteers and handmade items for the St. John booth, as well as participation in the other activities of the Altar Society, after Mass on June 20. This announcement will also be published in the bulletin.

Church/Parish Hall cleaning:    July—Becky,   August—Julie Noernberg and Daphne Banks,   September—Joanne.   Pat will send thank you notes as reminders to those who have signed up to clean. 

The older upright vacuum cleaners were repaired by Mr. Sullivan.  Kathleen stated the thank you note sent to him was much appreciated by her husband.

Vestments/Albs:  Mary reported approximate costs of server albs from Tonini’s, and Chagall Design.  Catalogs are not available; however information will be obtained from the website.  No decision was made.  The old vestments will be donated to the church in Honduras.

Future Direction for the Altar Society:  The proposed by-laws for the following sections were reviewed:  mission statement, membership, officers, meetings, agenda, treasurer’s report, and secretary’s report.   Discussion will continue at the next meeting.

The next meeting will be on July 12, 2010 starting with evening prayer in church at 7:00.  The meeting adjourned at 8:50 p.m.
